AirPlay Direct, announced today the “Top 3” finalists for their first ever “APD Win a Jazz Radio Promotion” contest. The finalists are Tom Randles, Frank Herzberg and Joyride. The contest, which was free to enter and open to all AirPlay Direct artist members, awards the top entry with a 6 week Jazz radio promotions package from Powderfinger Promotions, one of the top independent jazz radio promotion companies in the United States. The winner will receive promotion to approximately 200 jazz stations across the U.S. for 6 weeks. The winner also will receive a 4 week AirPlay Direct radio campaign. The AirPlay Direct promotional campaign will begin at the conclusion of the Powderfinger Promotions radio campaign.

“The volume of quality entries we received surpassed our initial expectations, I am truly excited about the Jazz Artists that we have as members of AirPlay Direct. We look forward to connecting these artists to our network of radio and music industry contacts globally.” Michael Harnett/President, AirPlay Direct.

Joyride brings back the past with a new level of excitement on their newest release entitled “Are You Fer It.” Blending acoustic bass, piano, drums with a signature voice this veteran trio from Nashville, TN have recorded a collection of hit songs from the Great American Songbook, Nat King Cole, and Ray Charles (just to name a few) that now swing like never before. “We love playing this music and watching the reaction of our audience… the grin that sneaks up on your faces is our true motivation and the opportunity to bring our take on this classic era to a brand new generation of hipsters keeps the grin on ours. So let’s get it started…”

Urban jazz drippin’ with soul perfectly describes Tom Randles’ latest release, Destination Music City! A genuine groove retreat, featuring excellent and versatile guitar work, world class guest musicians, including sax man Kenny Anderson (Gloria Estefan, Larry Carlton, Arturo Sandoval, Tom Jones, Bobby Caldwell) and master trumpet player Jim Williamson (Aretha Franklin, Michael McDonald, The Temptations, The O’Jays, Randy Brecker, Four Tops) and many others.

A large number of musicians are operating in the jazz orbit these days, but few of them possess the artistry, vision and sense of purpose of bassist Frank Herzberg. Handmade, the new release from the Frank Herzberg Trio is a showcase for their devilishly mercurial music and it has been turning quite a few heads. No less an authority on Brazilian music and jazz than the great Arnaldo DeSouteiro has hailed Handmade, calling it – “Arguably the best jazz album of the year.”
